Meet Éric, our bootmaker

At Atelier Le Sac du Berger, the love of craftsmanship and creativity always comes first! Our team is made up of talented individuals, and today we'd like to chat with Éric Gallo, our bootmaker!

What was your background?

I underwent vocational retraining with RQTH (recognition of disabled worker status). This enabled me to complete two years of training at a shoemaking and multi-services school, followed by another year at a boot-making school.

Why did you choose this profession?

Being very manual and creative, I turned to what I wanted to do, work with my hands. Given that working with steel or wood was too constraining, I turned to leather, which remained my preference, and opted for shoes.

What makes your know-how unique?

I don't know if it's unique, but it's certainly unique to me. With my approach, my eye and my know-how about the work to be done and the materials, I carry out my task with the greatest possible care.

How did you hear about Le Sac du Berger?

When I was looking for an internship, a friend in the neighboring region told me about it and introduced me to an associate at Sac du Berger, who sent me to the company.

What products do you work on?

Mainly shoes and sandals. I make them from scratch, which allows me to control quality throughout. I also work on repairs.

How would you describe the high standards of Atelier Le Sac du Berger?

At the workshop, we're committed to the artisanal way of working. In fact, each product is made from start to finish by the same person.

What values do you share with Le Sac du Berger?

Craftsmanship, quality, know-how and transmission.

What is the strength of the Shepherd's Bag for the future?

We are a Living Heritage Company! It's a label that recognizes excellent industrial and craft skills, and aims to preserve and enhance them for the future.

A final word?

Glad to have shared my enriching experience. Thank you very much!
