Two Franco-Japanese collaborations

Our bags are known as far away as Japan!

Japan, the Land of the Rising Sun, is known for its unique culture and rich gastronomy, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Japanese are a polite, courteous and respectful people, who love to travel and discover other traditions. They are great admirers of Western art. Craftsmanship and "Made in France" are very important to them. Before becoming a customer, they are keen to see how things are made with their own eyes.

Agropastoralism (sheep farming) is an ancestral culture in our region. In Japan, however, sheep were unknown until recently.

Mr. Hidaka, a representative of a catalog company, wanted to develop sales of our bags in his country. During a visit to Layrolle in early 2020, he chose our flagship model: the shepherd's bag. To date, we've already delivered around fifty bags. Other orders are already on the way. The customer is very satisfied, and we're very proud!

One fine summer's day, a gentleman from Japan, a connoisseur of France, visited our workshop with an idea in mind: to introduce our know-how to his native country through our sandals and shoes. So it was that a hundred pairs made the trip to the land of the Rising Sun, and we hope that hundreds more will follow suit in the near future!

Long live these Franco-Japanese collaborations!
