Cultural context of the workshop visit :

The Layrolle workshops, in the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional des Grand Causses. The Larzac region, a land of struggle, shelters in its wild and grandiose landscapes the heritage of the Knights Templar and Hospitaller orders dating back to the 12th century. Numerous sites bear witness to the know-how and wealth of these Orders. The region's agro-pastoral vocation is as strong as ever, thanks in particular to the large-scale production of sheep's milk needed to make the famous Roquefort cheese. The fully renovated Sylvanès Abbey is home to an international cultural center dedicated to sacred music. La Couvertoirade, in the heart of Larzac, a unique medieval town, a living testimony to the presence of the Templars and Hospitallers, where shepherds and sheep come down from the Grands Causses. The Roquefort caves, set against the Combalou massif, where the famous cheese is matured.

Around the Shepherd's Bag Workshop :

Le domaine d'Alcapiès, the estate welcomes you all year round with bed and breakfast and table d'hôtes in an old 15th-century farmhouse in a picturesque village.
